YAKIMA, WA — The Central Washington Home Builders Association (CWHBA) has been honored with the Best Publication Award for mid-sized HBAs by the Executive Officers Council (EOC) of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), recognizing the standout quality of its HOME Resource & Buyers Guide.

“This award shines a light on the exceptional effort and intentional design behind this year’s publication,” said Kelly Sowder of Heether Construction, President of CWHBA. “It’s a proud moment for our team and our members who make our industry vibrant, creative, and deeply connected to our community.”

The winning publication was developed as a dual-purpose tool: a consumer-friendly resource coupled with a directory of CWHBA member professionals, as well as the official guidebook for the Central Washington Tour of Homes. It was crafted to be both visually compelling and practically useful—guiding consumers to trusted local experts while enhancing the Tour experience with home profiles, event info, and regional highlights.

Its success was measured not just in pages, but in impact: increased engagement during the Tour, positive community feedback, and expanded reach for members through strategic distribution.

The Association Excellence Awards are an annual program recognizing the outstanding achievements of local and state HBAs and their executive leadership in association management. The awards honor innovation, effectiveness, and meaningful member engagement across more than 650 NAHB-affiliated organizations nationwide.

“I’m continually impressed by the creativity, impact, and member focus shown by this year’s AEA winners,” said Mike Erdmann, EOC President and CEO of the Home Builders Association of Marion & Polk Counties in Oregon. “These awards highlight what’s possible when local and state associations stay grounded in their mission and deliver value where it matters most.”

Winning entries will be featured on the NAHB website as examples of best practices for industry peers across the country.
