As our region responds to active wildfires across Central Washington, the Central Washington Home Builders Association is committed to providing accurate information on rebuilding, finding a qualified contractor, and avoiding scams and further loss.

Current Incident Resources

Multiple large wildfires are burning across Central Washington and the state, including the Little Giant Fire in Chelan County and fires affecting Yakima and Kittitas counties. Governor Bob Ferguson has declared a statewide emergency and a burn ban through September 30, and the state's request for federal disaster assistance includes Chelan, Okanogan, and Yakima counties and the Yakama Nation.

Air Quality & Smoke

Employer Requirements
(by Air Quality)
  • AQI 0–71: Have a written wildfire smoke response plan, monitor conditions, establish two-way communication, and prepare to respond.
  • AQI 72+: Provide annual wildfire smoke training before employees are exposed, monitor smoke conditions, communicate hazards, and implement protective measures.
  • AQI 101+: Provide NIOSH-approved N95 respirators (or equivalent) for voluntary employee use. KN95s and cloth masks do not satisfy this requirement.
  • Very hazardous smoke: As smoke levels become extremely hazardous, employers must require respirator use and implement a full respiratory protection program.

Before donating goods or volunteering, check with your county emergency management office or the organizations below for current needs and verified collection drives.

American Red Cross - Northwest Region

The Red Cross is operating shelters and providing meals, comfort kits, and recovery support for those displaced by wildfires across Washington. Donate online, call 800-733-2767, or text REDCROSS to 90999.

Community Foundation of North Central WA

Drawing on more than a decade of wildfire response experience, the Community Foundation of NCW directs donations to nonprofit, governmental, and faith-based partners providing direct services to individuals and families impacted by wildfire in Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties.
